By Macrines Nyapendi and James Odomel GIANT John Paul Ofwono has refused to go for brain surgery in India to remove a tumour that is causing his excessive growth. The waragi (spirits) distilling company, 3R International had offered to meet all the expenses.Ofwono said his wife told him the Indians want to take his brain. He said doctors should instead be flown from India to carry out the operation in his home village in Tororo district. The giant was speaking during a press conference at the City Bar, where his wife clashed with 3R officials and journalists.Ofwono, who is one of the tallest men in the world, has a tumour in the pituitary gland found in the brain.Doctors say this tumour has caused him excessive growth and diabetes.Last year doctors said Ofwono would continue to grow as long as the tumour persists and that any increment was an added risk to his life.Ofwono acknowledged that he would benefit from the operation but feared that he would lose his wife if he went.
