Gaddafi Architects At Work In Tooro

LIBYAN leader Col. Muammar Gaddafi has sent three architects from Tripoli to the Tooro palace (Karuzika), whose renovation he promised to contribute to, reports Lillian Nalumansi.

Muammar Gaddafi has sent three architects from Tripoli to the Tooro palace (Karuzika), whose renovation he promised to contribute to, reports Lillian Nalumansi.Tooro Kingdom’s information minister and chief spokesman Philip Winyi said the architects have been in Harukooto, Fort-Portal for over 10 days. He said they were getting information from residents on the availability of local materials and drawing plans for the final estimates.Winyi said renovation of the palace, devastated by Amin’s soldiers, is estimated to cost US$10m. He said a plan has been forwarded to Gaddafi and President Yoweri Museveni, guardians to the King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru. The presidents promised to contribute to its renovation last year while attending celebrations marking the sixth coronation anniversary (Empango) of the child king.“Construction of the palace has finally started and we already have professional architects at the site,” Winyi said at a press conference held on Monday at the Uganda Implementation and Management Agency offices on Kiira Road.He was flanked by the Kingdom’s planner, Patrick Nyaika. He said King Oyo today leaves for Denver, Colorado in the USA for a two-week trip aimed at raising between US$8-10m to construct a children’s hospital in Kyenjojo district.Ends
