Utilise experts to curb crime â€" DPP

THE Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Richard Buteera, has asked the Government to fully rely on experts and scientists in law enforcement to eliminate criminals who have resorted to using science to effect their criminal intent.

By Esther Mukyala in JinjaTHE Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Richard Buteera, has asked the Government to fully rely on experts and scientists in law enforcement to eliminate criminals who have resorted to using science to effect their criminal intent.Buteera was on Friday closing a Justice, Law and Order sector training workshop for government chemists, ballistic and handwriting experts at Hotel Triangle Annex in Jinja. “We should increasingly rely on science to prove our cases in court, net criminals who are now using scientific means to terrorise the communities and fight drug trafficking and drug abuse,” he said. Buteera said there are currently many crimes committed using computers.He said Uganda needs computer experts in the enforcement of law to fight computer crimes like fraud, corruption and child pornography, which have infilitrated the country. Others included Police surgeons and state Attorneys from DPP.
