By Vision Reporter A suspected notorious robber believed to be part of a racket that has been terrorising western Uganda, has surrendered a gun and pleaded for mercy. Jamil Rwakatooke surrendered the gun to security personnel in Bunyangabu, Kabarole district but remained in hiding. “He sent information to security personnel that the gun was at his home. Our people went and collected it plus 90 bullets,” the assistant resident commissioner, Samuel Kazinga, said. An earlier search at his home in Kadindimo, Rutete sub-county, recovered textiles and power saws which were stolen at gun point in two separate incidents. A Toyota Corona vehicle suspected to have been stolen was also recovered. His son was early this year killed in Kamwenge during an abortive robbery in which Rwakatooke was suspected to be one of the ring leaders. Kazinga said Rwakatooke had eluded them because his group had infiltrated security agencies. Ends
