An internationally accredited laboratory for testing fish and related products has been launched by the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS).
The laboratory is to be managed by an expatriate and will operate on a 24-hour basis for quality, prompt and efficient service. The UNBS executive director, Terry Kahuma, said this during the launching of the laboratory accreditation for fish testing at Hotel Africana last week. Fish processors, staff of the ministry of trade tourism and industry and the National Standards Council (NSC), attended the function.
“UNBS has decided to operate the fish testing service as a separately run business to be managed by an expatriate with international experience. It is to be run on 24-hour basis to deliver quality, prompt and efficient service,” Kahuma said.
He said the laboratory was accredited by the South African National Accreditation System (SANAS). Ends
