TWO children playing at their home in Nakulabye were yesterday hit by a falling wall, leaving one dead.
Swaibu Semwogerere, 2, was pulled out of the rubble of a three-metre high wall that collapsed on him and his playmate, Joseph Ssozi, 2. Ssozi was taken to Mengo Hospital in critical condition.
Ssemwogerere’s mother who was keeping a retail shop where the kids were playing, sustained minor injuries, but was taken to hospital in shock, after learning about the the death of her son.
The wall, an extension to Valley Pub and Take Away, came down, crushing the roof of a nearby building in Jumba Zone.
The Old Kampala Police Station boss, Abbey Kisubi, said the poorly erected wall came down at about 10:30am.
A number of builders at the construction site vanished moments after the wall came down. A resident said one of them was injured by the falling bricks.
A white Toyota Carina belonging to Robert Lutalo, which was parked between the two buildings, was damaged.
One side of the neighbouring building belonging to Daudi Lutaya was left with several holes and multiple cracks.
