Kabayo, one of the scientists working with International Atomic Energy Agency based in Vienna, Austria, said he tendered in his resignation to the Speaker of Parliament, Edward Ssekandi, on Tuesday.
He said he will be at the Pan African Tsetse and Trypanosomosis Eradication Campaign organisation at the African Union (AU) headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
“It is not that there is a big job or salary but it is the commitment I have for the continent,†Kabayo said.
President Yoweri Museveni in a letter to the AU chief Amara Essy, said he had persuaded Kabayo to quit because the new job is important for Africa.
