JERUSALEM / Mombasa - Survivors described with shock and horror the Thursday morning bombing of the Paradise hotel near the Kenyan port city of Mombasa, which left at least 15 people dead and more than 80 injured.
“We got to the hotel and after a short time there was an explosion. We were just about to leave the lobby when suddenly everything was on fire. There is chaos here,” Linoi, a survivor, told Israeli media.
Another witness called Shiri, said the blast caught “most people in the lobby.
“There was a huge explosion and everybody escaped to the beach because the hotel was beginning to burn. There are also children in the hotel, but everyone is Israeli. There are some wounded...Kenyans have also been wounded,” she said.
“Everything went up in flames, windows flew out and shattered...it was really a powerful explosion,” an unnamed survivor told Israel Army Radio.
An Israeli doctor, Nimrod Grisaro, said he treated people who were lightly to moderately injured, with wounds in the head or the chest.Ends
