SIR— It has transpired that the minister for pensions has not taken action for the pension arrears of the pensioners from the district administrations.

As a matter of fact, our counterparts in the central government have recently been paid. Under the circumstances, we feel strongly that the minister for pensions should have taken the same action for the pensioners of the district administrations.

What’s more is the fact that on visiting the various districts, it has come to our notice that the calculations of the arrears for pensioners in those districts were made already; but no payments have ever been effected.

For this juncture, we would like to inform the minister for pensions that we have wasted a lot of our meagre resources chasing for our pension arrears on transport, accommodation and feeding, among other expenses.

Therefore, we would like to appeal to the minister, Mrs Benigna Mukiibi, to take the necessary action so that we are saved from starving and this big injustice.
