WASHINGTON — US Secretary of State Colin Powell on Tuesday challenged foreign diplomats to play a greater role in tackling the HIV/AIDS crisis. Speaking to the Washington diplomatic corps at the State Department, Powell cited Brazil, Cambodia and Uganda as countries where the political elite’s “enlightened leadership” had helped reduce the impact of AIDS. Powell said President Museveni’s personal attention to AIDS prevention had been a main factor in a 50% drop in the HIV infection rate since 1992.

KAMPALA — An armed thug was gunned down, another sustained bullet wounds and was arrested while the third sustained bullet wounds but escaped amidst a hail of bullets in industrial area on Tuesday night. The 9:00pm incident occurred on Old Port Bell Road next to the National Water and Sewerage treatment plant. Operation Wembley operatives trailed the trio from town.

KCC directs
KAMPALA — The Kampala City Council (KCC) principal law enforcement officer, Emmanuel Kizza, has directed law enforcement officers at the divisions to arrest impersonators carrying out illegal activities in the city. He said he had information that some people who had taken part in an operation code named ‘Safe City Clean’ that ceased had continued its operations. He said they arrested people illegally.
