Cocoa surge
LONDON----Prices forged ahead as tensions mounted between rebel soldiers and forces loyal to the government in Ivory Coast. Cocoa futures soared to a five-week high. In London, March delivery climbed to 1,246 pounds on Friday from 1,203 the previous week. In New York the December contract surged to $1,895 from $1,703.

Strong coffee
LONDON---Coffee prices rose last week, although analysts attached little significance to a move which they pointed out had been accompanied by no fresh major fundamental news. On New York’s CSCE market, Arabica for March delivery rose to 71.10 cents a pound on Thursday from 70.60 cents the previous week. On LIFFE, Robusta quality for January delivery climbed to $825 a tonne on Thursday from $813 the previous week.

Oil higher
LONDON---Oil pushed higher for the third week in a row amid concerns about the prospect of a military conflict in Iraq and the threat of a disruption to Venezuelan oil supplies. By Friday afternoon, benchmark Brent crude oil for January delivery had risen to $25.92 a barrel here against $25.10 a week earlier.
In New York, January-dated light sweet crude futures traded at 27.23 dollars, up from 26.89 dollars a week earlier.

Gold rally
LONDON---- Prices rallied to their highest in more than two months, profiting from a steep slide in US stock prices and increased tension between Iraq and the US. Prices were fixed at $325.75 London Bullion Market on Friday against last week’s $319.05.

Cotton falls
LONDON---Cotton prices fell last week. The market is stalled between the 40cents and 50 cents moving averages where it is likely to consolidate near term. US exports rose 42% to 249,800 bales in the week to November 28. In New York, the December contract slipped back to 46.15 cents a pound.
on Thursday from 47.50 the previous week.
The Cotton Outlook Index of physical cotton, the average of the world’s lowest prices, was flat on the previous week at 53.55 cents a pound.
