By Richard Mutumba FORMER presidential candidate Nasser Ntege Sebaggala (pictured) has castigated the government for the flaws in the recent local council elections.“We should not only condemn Aziz Kasujja, the Electoral Commission chairman, but the government which delayed in releasing money for procurement of election logistics should also be blamed,” he said.He was yesterday responding on phone from England to comments from the public, multipartysts and movementists on Radio Simba about Uganda’s political destiny as regards the debate on freeing political parties.Sebaggala currently pursuing studies in England said it was through political pluralism that Uganda would realise meaningful democracy. The former Kampala mayor said the earlier political space was opened the better.Sebaggala said the Electoral Commission could not organise free and fair elections because it was still getting orders from the Movement government. “It is unfortunate that the government has failed to learn from past mistakes especially during the last presidential elections, where the Constitutional court admitted that there was malpractice in the elections,” he said.Sebaggala said he was optimistic that multipartists like Kampala Mayor Ssebaana Kizito would excel in the coming LC5 and district council elections and would defeat the movementists.Ends
