Cloning is not the apex of science, Prof Mukiibi!

SIR— I am dismayed by the assertion Prof Joseph Mukiibi made at Hotel Africana during a conference last week that because Uganda had not started cloning, it was lagging behind in biotechnology. Let me remind Prof Mukiibi the director of the National Research Organisation (NARO) that even Dolly the Sheep which was named as a success story now suffers from arthritis. So Uganda is not lagging behind in anyway. It is just that our scientists are prudent in their research and they are better than European researchers who just rush in their research. Even European governments are reluctant to pass the regislation on cloning humans after what has befallen Dolly the Sheep. Lastly cloning violates the purpose of creation by God.
