THE Electoral Commission (EC) yesterday launched a publicity programme to sensitise and encourage voters in the city to participate in the photographic voters’ register up-date.

By Vision ReporterTHE Electoral Commission (EC) yesterday launched a publicity programme to sensitise and encourage voters in the city to participate in the photographic voters’ register up-date.The road show programme includes music and advertising through the public address systems mounted on pick-up trucks.The EC deputy spokesperson, Teddy Mugote, yesterday said the move was to drum-up public support for the exercise. The EC has also displayed photographic voters’ registers to enable voters to rectify any anomalies.The exercise involves re-taking photographs missing in the registers, and reporting to display officers the names of the dead, underage, non-citizens and those who have left the area and those who do not hail from the areas they have registered.Mugote yesterday said voters whose pictures are missing in the registers will be required to have a registration certificate, as well as other personal identification documents.She said there will be no fresh registration of voters or application for transfer during this period.Ends
