UNHCR hails Uganda’s policy on refugees

The United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) has praised Uganda’s policy on refugees, saying it allows them to live better than in many other countries.

The United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) has praised Uganda’s policy on refugees, saying it allows them to live better than in many other countries.Anne Mugisa reports that the UNHCR Senior Community Service Coordinator here, Linnie Kesselly, said yesterday that Uganda’s policy was generous to refugees.“Uganda policies are the most friendly to refugees. refugees can even cultivate crops in the areas where they live,” she said.The UNHCR community services and education programme includes skills training, sensitisation of the people on their rights, reproductive health and how to deal with violence especially gender violence.Kesselly said the nationals who live near the refugee camps also benefit from the programme.
