Kabarole district woman MP Beatrice Kiraso has said her being single did not mean that she is a prostitute. She also lashed out at critics of her marital status, reports Emmanuel Mulondo. She was on Saturday addressing women during district celebrations to mark International Women’s Day.“Some people wanted to raise this matter during the elections. Who said that anybody without a man is a prostitute?” Kiraso, who was guest of honour, asked.“I got married in church but I was let down,” she told the function at Nyakagongo Primary School. She said she opted out of the marriage when her husband, Mr. Kiraso, tried to stop her from working to look after their newly-born baby.“His mother also came to me saying the same thing. I asked how do you fit in our programme? .. I take orders from the husband and also from his mother!” Kiraso said women’s problems are similar and the Vice President, Speciosa Kazibwe’s recent media outbursts about her beating husband were aimed at explaining this.
