SIR— I wonder who is advising the President wrongly.

SIR— I wonder who is advising the President wrongly. It is amazing to hear the man who is supposed to be pro-people becoming something else! How, in heaven, can the President forget so quickly and start antagonising the populace.By saying that mivumba (old clothes and shoes) should be increasing taxes, the President is banishing them.Does our President forget so quickly that we are still below the poverty line?In Uganda, there are still people who earn sh1000 even less a day! How can such people afford a shoe of sh25,000? Let the President, do his research well before it is late.Remember those good educated citizens who are on the streets without jobs. Can they afford a shirt of sh10,000 to 50,000 in the shops of Kampala? Protect business men, but remember who has supported you most on the struggle — the peasants!David MukasaBaganda Bus Park, Kampala
