MPs Elect Committee Bosses, Vote Out Tinye

SAMIA Bugwe South MP Simon Mayende has been elected chairman of the parliamentary sessional committee on defence and internal affairs.

By Vision ReportersSAMIA Bugwe South MP Simon Mayende has been elected chairman of the parliamentary sessional committee on defence and internal affairs.Mayende replaces Lt. Gen. David Tinyefunza who steered the committee during the first session of the Seventh Parliament. Mayende, who was Tinyefuza’s deputy, will be deputised by Betty Udongo (Nebbi Woman).During the just concluded elections, Ndawula Kaweesi (Kiboga West) was elected chairman of the committee on natural resources. He replaces Hillary Onek (Lamwo). Kaweesi will be deputised by Loice Bwambale (Kasese Woman), who replaces John Ken Lukyamuzi (Rubaga South).Nsaba Buturo (Bufumbira East) and Margaret Zziwa (Kampala Woman) retained their seats as chairperson and deputy chairperson of the sessional committee on presidential and foreign affairs.John Odit (Erute) will chair the committee on agriculture, animal industry and fisheries with Deusdedi Bikwasizehi as deputy. Odit replaces Mutebi Kityo (Mawokota South) while Bikwasizehi replaces Victoria Mwaka (Luweero Woman).Beatrice Byenkya Nyakaisiki (Hoima Woman) was re-elected to chair the committee on public service and local government with Yiga Anthony as her deputy.The committee on works, housing and communications will be chaired by Nathan Byanyima (Bukanga) deputised by John Byabagambi (Ibanda South). Dorothy Hyuha (Tororo Woman) and Elioda Tumwesigye (Sheema North) were re-elected chairperson and deputy chairperson of the committee on social services.Ephraim Kamuntu (Sheema South) will chair the committee on finance deputised by Jachan Omach (Jonam).Ends
