Campusers fight for finalist meat

By Roger MugishaLast weekend was not the best at Uganda’s great tower of academic excellence. When Makerere University finalists were having their finalists’ dinner at the Freedom Square, a number of shameful things happened that left onlookers disappointed. As bull-roasting was supposed to be the major function, students were required to come with their own sticks for roasting the meat. So, students stormed the whole campus looking for sticks.As if that was not enough, when the meat delivery delayed, the students grumbled and hurled insults at the organisers, threatening to go away in protest. Eventually, when the meat and the soda were delivered, the mother of all scuffles began.The students fought for the meat and the soda. The meat, which had been packed in polythene bags, was torn to pieces by their ravenous hands. Some of the soda bottles were broken and the broken glass caused minor injuries. What a shame it was to the finalists, everyone seemed to say.
