Lt. Gen. Salim Saleh has denied distributing relief supplies to the displaced people in the insurgency-hit northern Uganda, reports Grace Matsiko. “We would like to state that Salim Saleh’s Foundation for Humanity has not in the recent days carried out any relief supply distribution,” the general secretary of the Foundation, Rwomushana Namara, said in a statement yesterday. Saleh, who is President Yoweri Museveni’s brother, runs the foundation. The New Vision reported on Saturday that the foundation was distributing food aid to people affected by the LRA war. But Namara said, “Although Lt. Gen. Salim Saleh mobilised relief for the people affected by the war in 1996 and 1997, he is not aware of any relief work by his organisation going on at the moment.” “He (Saleh) has not authorised any aide of his or otherwise to talk on his behalf or that of the foundation regarding its current work,” Namara said.
