Katikkiro Joseph Ssemwogerere and a number of his ministers have clarified that Baganda are not seeking a special constitutional status when they demand for a federal system of governance.
They argued that a federal system of government should be granted to all regions that cherish it, adding that the system would minimise chances of terrorism, rebel activity, power struggle and discontent.
They said, “The system is not a Buganda issue alone. Federalism is for the benefit of all Ugandans because it is desired by the majority of the people in Buganda and in Buganda as a whole.”
They said this on Monday at Bulange when they met Dr. Knut Berdal, the World Federalist Movement of Norway.
The Makindye West MP, Yusuf Nsambu, and members of the African Federalist Association led Berdal to Bulange.
Nsambu said many people in Uganda want a federal system. Ends
