PEOPLE with severe HIV/AIDS cases should be exempted from paying graduated tax, the Uganda Human Rights Commission director for research, training and education, Dr. Muhammad Ndaula has said.
He was addressing over 100 AIDS patients under the TASO branch in Masaka hospital recently, who complained that they were strained by graduated tax collectors, who do not have any respect for their rights.
Ndaula said the commission would table the matter to the ministry for discussion.
He said majority of AIDS victims were people who no longer worked and yet they spent on treatment. Ends
