KARIMOJONG warriors, who recently re-entered Kitgum district, reportedly killed at least six people including a UPDF officer within a week, the Kitgum security officer, Lt. Alfred Candia, has said, reports Ray Olweny.
“Two Karimojong warriors waylaid and killed the 61st Battalion intelligence officer in cold blood at Karenga in Kayei-Akuromo stream in Orom sub-county,” Candia, who declined to disclose the names of the deceased officer citing security reasons, said.
Candia said the warriors also killed five civilians, stole cattle and looted property from residents in separate raids in Orom and Namokora sub-counties.
He identified two of the dead as Martin Ogwok and Richard Okoch, both peasant farmers from Ochom village, Akilok parish in Orom.
Candia told The New Vision that three other unidentified civilians were also killed at corner Kalabong in Namokora sub-county near Orom border.
He said the Karimojong had occupied three sub-counties of Orom, Namokora and Omiya Anyima. Ends
