Let Govt Help On Domestic Violence!

SIR— We would like to commend the Mifumi Project for the work it does against domestic violence.

It is a pity the Government has done little about domestic violence. The work of organisations like the Mifumi Project will all come to nothing if the Government doesn’t do anything about domestic violence.
The lack of specific laws to deal with domestic crime perpetuates such abuse. Men think it is okay to beat their wives because there is no law that tells them it’s a crime.
Let Parliament pass the Domestic Relations Bill,
the Domestic Violence Act and the Equal Opportunities Act,
if the Government is really
serious about liberating women and human rights.
