THE Government is to pay over sh113m to Silver Springs Hotel for services rendered to a delegation of Congolese rebels.

A letter from the Attorney General’s office to a Commercial Court judge, Justice Okumu Wengi, said they were ready to pay the money but contested other charges claimed by the hotel located in Bugolobi.

Silver Springs Hotel, through Gandesha & Co. advocates, sued the Attorney General, claiming US$300,599 in general damages and interest.

Gandesha said on November 16, 2000, a Congolese delegation was booked into the hotel by the President’s office, which undertook to settle all the bills.

The lawyers added that the number of permanent guests fluctuated between 22 and 45 at various times.

Gandesha said another group of four to six persons resided elsewhere but had their meals and drinks at the hotel.

The lawyers said by November 2, 2002, the total bill stood at US$419,599.
