THE chairman of the Young Parliamentarians Association (YPA), Geoffrey Ekanya, has said sub-counties should to sue district authorities if they reduce their budgets.
He said it was unethical and illegal for the district to reduce the sub-county budget without reasons.
Ekanya said 65% of the local government funds were supposed to be sent to the sub-counties.
“Sub-counties are centtres where revenue for the district is collected and many activities take place there, thus they need the money,†he said.
He said very soon his sub-county, Osukuru would sue the district for reducing its revenue and failure to give it 20% of the ground rents.
Ekanya was discussing a paper on the role of MPs and local councillors in administration at Soroti Hotel recently.
