Soroti gets
SOROTI – The district is to receive sh155 from the Ministry of Local Government for road works. During a council meeting, the Chief Administrative Officer, George William Omuge, said the district would receive sh155m for the work. He urged councillors to be vigilant and start with the urgent roads that need repair.

Iteso urged
KABERAMAIDO – President Yoweri Museveni has urged the Iteso to unite and strengthen the sustainable peace initiated by the late Robert Ekinu. He said this in a speech read by the state minister for Health, Captain Mike Mukula, during the last funeral rites of the late Ekinu at Ararat recently.

NGOs pledge
SOROTI – The National Agricultural Research Organisation (NARO) and its sister organisation, National Agricultural Research Institute (SAARI) have pledged to support the Government plan for modernisation of agriculture. The Pricinpal Research Officer, Dr. Lastus Serunjogi, said this while opening a two-day workshop for the agro savannah ecological zones in Soroti recently.

Survived
JINJA – A newly-wed couple from Evangel Church recently survived death when their vehicle got involved in an accident at Mbiko on the Kampala–Jinja highway. The vehicle collided with a commuter taxi. The couple was heading for St Kaloli community Hall for a reception.
