Teenagers nab Wandegeya waiter with stolen mobile

By Maria Murore A WAITER was nabbed by a group of six teenagers after stealing a mobile phone in Wandegeya, recently. The teenagers, from Kabojja Secondary School, had gone to Wandegeya to eat pork. Wandegeya is popular for its pork and chicken joints. The teenagers ordered sodas and six trays of pork with cassava, avocado, greens and salad. One of them put his phone on the table as they chatted. Before long, one after another got a call. Not wanting to be left out, the one who had left his phone on the table reached for it. He was shocked when he realised that the phone was missing. A search of the table, floor and under their chairs revealed nothing. Then one of them got an idea. "Let me call your number," a girl said. The phone began ringing from the waiter's pocket just as he was placing the plates of pork on their table. The waiter excused himself to answer the phone, but the sharp teens nabbed him and demanded for the phone. The embarrassed waiter handed over the phone amidst shouts of "Sha! Thief!" The angry teens were set to mete out mob justice but were stopped by the owner of the phone. The sweating waiter took off forgetting to serve the rest of the pork. from the kitchen. This earned him a few unsavoury names from the impatient chef who was unaware of what was going on! The waiter who was now sweating profusely, had to endure the taunts of the teenagers, as he continued to load their table with trays of pork. "Bring our pork, if you try to steal it as well you'll be hammered!" they threatened. Another waiter was sent to clear the table and present the bill. But the group of teenagers insisted that they wanted the one who had served them. The poor fellow was almost in tears as he cleared their table amidst jeers. He was then 'escorted' to the counter by his collar, to ensure that he did not pocket the money. "Next time you steal from us we will roast you like the pork!" they warned as they left. Ends.
