By James Bakama PRESIDENTIAL candidate Dr Kizza Besigye, in a quest for votes in the sports fraternity, on Saturday visited Nakivubo Stadium's usually chaotic Kirussia section to watch the Cranes versus Senegal African Nations Cup soccer match. Besigye, escorted by his assistants and policemen, was greeted with chants of "Hajji agambye obululu tubuwe Besigye" (Ssebagala has said we should give Besigye votes). Besigye sat next to former presidential aspirant Nasser Sebaggala. Presidential candidate Kibirige Mayanja was also at Nakivubo. Ssebagala's arrival before kick-off was greeted with thunderous applause. He was carried shoulder high by fans. Mayanja, on arrival, walked onto the pitch and waved to the crowd. He and his team however had difficulty in ascending the Kirussia as some of the spectators waved them away. He finally sat a few places away from Besigye and Ssebagala. The three, however, did not stay to the end of the match. Besigye and Ssebagala left at half time, 15 minutes before Mayanja. While some soccer fans celebrated the trio's presence, another group accused it of bringing bad luck to the Ugandan side. Ends.
