By Darious Magara in Kabale St. Maria Goretti Secondary school, Rushoroza is located on Rushoroza hill near the headquarters of Kabale diocese, four kilometres from the town along Kabale-Katuna road. It's a mixed 'O' level school which offers boarding facilities and has a quiet environment conducive for studying. This is why the students here excel. The school was founded by the Diocese of Kabale in 1989 under Bishop emeritus Banarbas Hale'Imana together with a few committed parents to make it a model school. It has about 200 students three quarters of who are girls. "We have been performing well in academics may be that is why we are prominent. In 1999 for example, we had 30 students pass in first grade, while 20 passed in second grade," says Mr. Kennedy Rwaboona the headteacher. He adds: "Our vision has now come true. We have been able to establish and maintain steady progress in academics and have disciplined students. "This we have managed to attain as a result of mutual understanding between the teachers and committed parents." Parents, teachers and the founding board of the school meet students from time to time during the course of the term to achieve the development of both academics and the school structures. Rwaboona says the school administration plans to introduce computer studies at all levels, build a Science laboratory, a library block and a dining hall. And this is just the beginning. Ends.
