KAMPALA–– Midwives have called upon the government to enact laws to protect mothers and their newly born babies from unhygienic practitioners. They criticised practitioners who put the babies at the risk of HIV/AIDS infection.
Nina Shalita, the executive director of Uganda Private Midwives Association, said, "There is lack of adequate training and continued education for midwives."
