PRESIDENTIAL candidate Karuhanga Chapaa has assured Ugandans that poverty eradication programmes would be a priority when he is elected president, reports Catherine Ntabadde. Karuhanga, while addressing rallies in Mbale and Pallisa on Friday, said eastern Uganda would benefit from the poverty eradication programme. In a statement sent by his national campaign task force signed by Stephen Bwire, Karuhanga appealed to the people of Pallisa and Mbale to reject selfish, corrupt and non-principled leaders. He also advised them to create a new beginning in the politics of Uganda by not condemning and insulting past leaders. He appealed to Pallisa and Mbale people to recognise positive achievements of past leaders and to focus on correcting what they did wrong. Karuhanga said it was unfortunate that successive leaders after independence had condemned predecessors but ended up repeating similar mistakes. He told Pallisa and Mbale residents that he had the best economic programme for Uganda, which if implemented, would would make the citizens proud. Karuhanga said he would ensure that Ugandans are healthy, well educated and economically empowered. Ends
