The release, issued after campaign rallies in Hoima town and Kigumba county, said Bwengye referred to those agitating for abolition of graduated tax as liars. The release was signed by the chairman of the task force and Rubaga North Member of Parliament, Wasswa Lule, and George Komakech, the task force's media relations and researcher. Bwengye reportedly said the abolition of graduated tax was a political gimmick and unrealistic. "Some of those people are deceiving Ugandans. They are soldiers and do not pay graduated tax like the rest. No government can survive without graduated tax," the release said. He said when elected, his government would tax people fairly according to their incomes. Ends
