By Joyce Namutebi MAJ. Gen. Salim Saleh has vowed to campaign for his brother, President Yoweri Museveni, though Museveni has twice sacked him. "I was Army Commander, but he does not treat with kid gloves people who make mistakes," Saleh said, adding, "But I decided to campaign for him." Addressing a rally in Nakaseke, Luweero district on Saturday, Saleh said Uganda needed a tough person like Museveni to steer. At another rally at Kikunyu in Makulubita sub-county, Saleh appealed to the Luweero people to forgive him over failure to return to the people after the guerrilla war. Saleh said he was unable to return to the area in the past because he had gone back to school. He decried the lack of infrastructure in Luweero, saying during the war the infrastructure was not as bad as it was now. He said, "I have been deeply embarrassed." He asked the people to remind Museveni about the sorry state of Luweero. At Kanyanda, Saleh said, "If we don't vote properly, we might lose all that you fought for." He was accompanied by Joseph Luzige of the President's Office. The people said they were bitter with the Government for failing to repay what it took during the war. Luzige appealed to the youth not to back the opposition. "Although there are some hitches here and there, I urge you to vote for Museveni," Luzige said. Ends
