By John Nzinjah in Kasese MORE UPDF troops have arrived in Kasese to pursue ADF rebels who attacked Kasese town, killing 11 people on Saturday night. The attackers, said to be 20, also burnt 52 vehicles and looted two shops including a drug shop. An unspecified number of people were also abducted. Kasese district Police chief Pius Mutabazi on Sunday afternoon identified eight of the people killed in the surprise attack as William Tuhirirwe, Ibrahim Baluku Kamasu, John Mugisa and Balinda Adyeri. Others were Edward Mugisa, Tofayo, Fred and Odeke. One victim was burnt beyond recognition and two others were not identified either. Addressing a rally at the Rwenzori Square in Kasese town, the acting UPDF 2nd division commander, Lt. Col. Tumusime Nyakaitana, told the grief-stricken people that the army was pursuing the rebels. "This attack has been politically motivated. This is ADF No. 2," Nyakaitana said. Resident District Commissioner Zedekiya Karokora called for calm, saying the Government would handle the situation. The attack was the fourth since the ADF rebels started war in the Rwenzori mountains more than four years ago. The rebels have periodically made attacks on civilian targets from their bases in eastern Congo. They are said to be backed by Sudan which supplies them arms. Ends
