Parliament will conduct a survey and an exhibition on people with disabilities before Easter, reports John Odyek. The move is aimed at enhancing awareness of the problems of people with disabilities (PWDs), the chairman, Parliamentary Association for MPs with Disabilities, has said. James Mwandha, also MP for PWDs said yesterday that they will solicit the support of the Speaker of Parliament and others to ensure that the exhibition and survey are a success. The survey will be conducted on the 280 MPs and parliament's 200 staff while the photographic, video and literature exhibition will be held in Parliament. Mwandha said this during a meeting with MPs representing PWDs, the ministry of gender, PWD directors in the Ministry of Gender, labour and social development and Donna Bugby, Chief of Party; Uganda Parliamentary Technical Assistance Project (UPTAP); State University of New York. The meeting was held at the Parliament. Bugby said the offices for MPs for PWDs, will enhance the profile PWDs in Uganda. She said the survey was supported by UPTAP and would deal with issues related to PWDs. Ends
