LDUs Gun Down 2 Thugs

JINJA - Two armed thugs were on Tuesday night shot dead in Jinja Municipality in a gun battle with Local Defence Unit guards. P.K Barasha, the CID officer, said one of the dead was identified as Martin Olech. The other could not be identified. The Police said one of the thugs still at large escaped with the gun used in the shootout. The two bodies were still lying in Jinja main hospital mortuary by yesterday. Simon Okot, an LDU on night guard at the Golf course ground, said the thugs defied his orders to them to stop and opened fire on him, forcing him to fire back. Ends
