By Douglas Mazune FORMER national champion Moses Lumala has acquired a Toyota Celica ST185 from Kenyan rally ace Jonathan Toroitich. "I am very grateful to Jonathan, he gave me a better deal than I actually expected," Lumala said yesterday. "The machine is intact, very strong and it is only its engine that was faulty, but that isn't a big problem, I am going to fit it in mine," a jovial Lumala told The New Vision. Caltex-sponsored Lumala sealed the deal with Toroitich in Nairobi last week. Lumala had initially wanted to purchase only the chassis to fit in an engine from his Toyota Celica ST 185, which crashed beyond repair early this year. "It has Safari rally specifications, it's definitely better than the one I had although it also an ST 185," Lumala said. Toroitich, son of Kenyan President Arap Moi, bought the car in 1994 from Karim Hirji, who had purchased it from Didier Auriol's Toyota Team Europe. Caltex contributed part of the money to enable the 1999 champion acquire the car. He will make his first appearance in the car next month in the Shell Helix rally. Ends
