KAMPALA–– Tobacco farmers in Uganda have been advised to make plans to quit the trade by the Environmental Action Network Limited (TEAN) during an international meeting in early May, initiated by the World Health Organisation. A spokesman for TEAN said that with an international tobacco treaty pending, the market for tobacco would die out as the demand for cigarettes dropped. Tobacco growing has long been considered as very harmful to the environment. Ends
