SCOUL clinched a double over Express after the 1-0 beating they inflicted on the Reds in Lugazi during the first round. Alex Isabirye, Muserero Katembo and David Kiwanuka propelled SCOUL to victory with a goal each as Express’ chances of a league title were dealt a blow and a rude welcome to new sponsors Petro Oils. Top scorer Hassan Mubiru stretched his tally to 17 by pulling one back for Express. Mubiru’s goal via a penalty put the favourites back into the game, but their efforts were spoilt by a late David Kiwanuka goal in injury time. Kiwanuka, scorer of the winner in the first round match, however earned a yellow card for celebrating bare chest. But, for the fast striker, the punishment might have after all not been so painful given that he had put the game beyond Express, an effort for which he was showered with money from ecstatic fans. For Isabirye, it was like settling an old score with the opening goal against a team that jettisoned him two seasons ago. But, it was Katembo who struck the goal of the day with a volley off a Robert Kabanda cross to set a 2-0 first half score. At Kakyeka stadium KCC made an emphatic second half recovery with a five goal blitz to humble hosts Mbarara 5-1. Mbarara had two minutes to recess chilled the visitors by taking the lead from an Ngolo Kambale penalty. Henry Kabeta equalised before Said Abed netting the second and third, while Davis Odowa struck the next before Moses Bantu struck in the final nail. Elsewhere, champions SC Villa had to wait until the 64th minute to beat Mbale Heroes at Mbale Municipal stadium. Kenyan striker Maurice Sunguti was the hero. He beat goalkeeper Haggai Azande off an Alimansi Kadogo cross to silence the packed stadium. Villa leads the 15-club table with 42 points and seven above KCC and 12 points from Express. At Nakivubo, Military revenged a first round defeat to Chicago with a 2-0 win. Jackson Senabulya put the soldiers in the lead 26 minutes into play before Eria Bukenya sealed the scores.
