By Edris Kisambira THE deputy representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Mr J.M. Castro Magluff has praised the government for its generosity towards refugees. Magluff said this on Monday at the UNHCR offices in Kampala during the launch of four commemorative stamps issued by the Uganda Posts Limited. The stamps are to mark 50 years of UNHCR and they reflect core areas of the Self Reliance Strategy (SRS). Magluff said SRS’s rationale was to ensure that refugees enjoy the same services given to nationals of a host nation. He said in the stamps “we do not see refugees as a burden or dependency, but rather as active contributors to the process of finding sustainable solutions.” The stamps, designed by Emmanuel Mutungi of Nommo Gallery, are in denominations of sh600, sh700, sh300 and sh1,800.
