THE Government will this financial year construct an official residence for the Vice-President’s residence at a cost of sh900m. Edith Kimuli reports that the parliamentary sessional committee on public service and local government yesterday approved a sh5.5b budget for the public service ministry some of which will be used to construct the house. The VP has not had an official residence in the history of the country. The committee approved sh1.7b for developmental and sh3.8b for recurrent expenditures. Public service minister Henry Kajura and his state ministers said they would spend sh91.7m on machinery, sh518.3m on cars, and sh50m on “other goods and services.” Ends
