By Eddie Ssejjoba THE family of former Masaka Mayor the late Francis Walugembe are angry with the release of Lt. Col. Nasur Abdallah by president Yoweri Museveni. They have also rejected Nasur’s move to visit their home at Kisosso in Masaka Municipality and threatened to harm him if “he dared step in their compound”. walugembe’s son, Paulo Kato Walugembe, 44, last week said he witnessed the brutal torture and murder of his father in 1972. Narrating the story in sobs, Kato said he saw Nasur stab his father outside Kasijjagirwa army barracks. “For what purpose is Nasur’s visit to us after he killed our father in my presence. Why is it that he never visited us since 1972 to the time he was arrested?” Kato asked. He said he could not believe that Nasur whom he gave evidence against, incriminating him in the murder of his father was declared innocent and free. Kato said Nasur was a close friend of his father and that was why Walugembe appealed to him when soldiers led by Francis Lwegaba abducted him from Kitovu. “I was with my father when he asked army men to call for him Lt. Col. Nasur hoping to save him, but Nasur grabbed a gun from a soldier who was nearby and shot him,” Kato said. Walugembe’s children said they needed protection from Nasur. “we gave incriminating evidence against Nasur, now that he is out what does he think of our life?” Fred Sserwadda asked. The family appealed to for financial help to treat Walugembe’s widow.
