Rains Disrupts Nakivubo Repairs

SECTIONS of the US$26m Nakivubo Channel rehabilitation project have been halted due to the current heavy rains.

Workers at the project have resorted to pumping out water and scooping out mud from the sub- channels. At the Clock Tower, the foreman, Sheban Kassim, told The New Vision yesterday that the water had been filing up the trenches where culverts are to be placed. Kassim, however, said that despite the rains, a lot of work around the Clock Tower sub-channel had been done. “We have unblocked various channels. All the water which used to flood around the Clock Tower now takes only 30 minutes to flow,” he said. Ends
