NSSF, my foot!

SIR—Tumusiime-Mutebile, Bank of Uganda Governor is spot-on about NSSF. NSSF’s monopoly should be done away with as soon as possible and workers should not continue to be enslaved by thieving oppressive laws. The government is not particularly bothered about anybody’s social security. Simply look at the interest rate NSSF pays, the strife of elderly pensioners today and the peanuts Government calls salary, not to mention taxing anything under the sun. On the other hand Government can borrow from NSSF without paying interest and without any sweat. Let institutions with provident schemes be freed from the vicious talons of NSSF.
