By Vision Reporter JINJA district administration is claiming ownership of the piece of land on which the traditional healer, Budhagali’s shrine stands. In a letter to the Regional Police Commander Jinja, the Jinja Urban and Estates Officer, Mr. G. A. Buyinza claimed the 8.8 hectares of land belong to the Jinja District Administration. He also informed him of a meeting to settle the wrangles over the site. However, Budhagali told The New Vision last week that he would never attend the meeting because he had not been invited and it would be against his spirits’ wish. “These people are thieves and want to steal the land from its rightful owner. If they dare construct a dam in this place without the permission of the gods, people are going to die,” he said. He said the people who had called the meeting did not know that he had inherited the shrines from 39 other ancestors of his who had also held the “spirits of Budhagali.”
