CHRISTOPHER Iga, the former Bushenyi RDC, has retired from active politics.

By Raynel Kanyambu CHRISTOPHER Iga, the former Bushenyi RDC, has retired from active politics. He said this on Sunday at a handover party to his successor, Bamusedde Bwambale. The party was organised by the district leaders in the council hall. Iga, the former Kampala mayor, worked in the district as RDC for two years after he was transferred from Masaka. “I’m retiring from active politics in case the President does not recall me for any other deployment,” he said. Iga, who was accompanied by his wife and children, said he had not received any communication from the President about his fate. He hailed Bushenyi for the warm reception and the co-operation accorded him as opposed to the political pressure and abuses he received in Masaka. Iga told Bwambale that the intelligence department in Bushenyi was weak and needed overhaul. Bwambale, the former Kasese district council chairman and current Movement boss, said he is a good man who is ready to cooperate with the Bushenyi district leaders. Yowasi Makaaru, the Bushenyi district council chairman, who presented a sofa set to Iga on behalf of the district, hailed Iga for the good work and co-operation he had rendered Bushenyi. “I have never in my life as district chairman worked with a man like Iga. Retiring a hard-working man like him would be a waste of resources,” Makaaru said at the function attended by hundreds of district workers and opinion leaders.
