ATLANTA Olympics 400 meter bronze medallist Davis Kamoga has identified Kabale Trinity College teenager Eric Tumushabe as a potential track star.
Kamoga on Wednesday donated a pair of spikes and a track suit to the teenage runner at Lugogo.
Kamoga has just returned from the Sydney Olympic Games where he reached the second round of the 400metres. He is a bronze medalist from the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games.
"I am soon retiring from active running and I feel somebody should follow my foot steps for the purposes of continuity," Kamoga said while handing over the kit to Tumushabe.
Kamoga leaves Sunday for training in Italy and will return in November for high altitude training in Kabale.
" I will have a training stint with him in Kabale as I prepare for the World championship in Canada next year," Kamoga said.
Tumushabe's time of 47 minutes on the 400m on grass is an indicator he can improve better with good training facilities, Kamoga said.
Kamoga said that although he won a bronze medal in 1996 Olympic Games, he was not facilitated like he intends to assist the youngster.
"It is up to you to start shaping for your future because you are talented in the quarter mile," Kamoga told the youngster.
Uganda Amateur Athletics Federation technical vice president Moses Twesigye-Omwe said he was proud of Tumushabe for getting assistance from a world re-known sportsman.
