Thugs grab sh30m on road

LUWEERO - Several highway travellers were on Tuesday robbed of more than sh30m in cash and cheques by armed thugs. In one incident, travellers in a Gulu- Kampala taxi were intercepted near Luweero at around 5:00pm by men armed with a pistol and a submachine gun. The robbers who were travelling in a Toyota Carina grabbed over sh25m from the passengers and fled. Police deputy Spokesman Eric Naigambi said yesterday the passengers were told by the robbers to follow them. Ends.
