By Douglas Mazune and Daniel Saire SC Villa 2 Police 1 Iganga 2 Heroes 2 SC Villa rallied from a goal down to defeat Police in the Nile Special Super league yesterday at Mandela national stadium, Namboole. Goals by Hassan Mubiru and Eugene Sseppuyya in the 38th and 45th minutes helped soccer champions Villa overcome stiff opposition from Police. Police launched relentless attacks on Villa right from the first whistle, and the Villa goal mouth was busy. Juma Lubega's header off a Yusuf Kinene cross from the right flank put Police ahead after 22 minutes. Villa equalised after overlapping Nestroy Kizito whipped in a cross for Hussein Mbalangu to set up Mubiru , who fired in from close range. Sseppuyya capitalised on a defence mix up to put Villa in the lead. In the second period both teams lacked the finishing touch, but victory is all Paul Hasule's Villa needed. They are now well placed to retain the title, and need only four points from four games. The league concludes later this week. Elsewhere, Iganga Town Council completed its 2000 season with a draw against Mbale Heroes in the highly charged league game at Ssaza ground. Aggrey Kaluya and Musa Khauka netted for the home side before Fred Wamukota and Ronald Walusimbi replied for the visitors. Heroes remained nine men after two of their star players were later rushed to nearby Iganga Hospital after serious collisions with opponents. Ends.
